Each of the academic faculties has been designed using a similar approach for space planning and departmental organization, and all facilities respect campus-wide design criteria. This design vocabulary was generated from the master plan studies and analyses of traditional Arabic architecture, wherein a sensitivity to climate and cultural values is of prime importance.

The community housing embodies many domestic Arabic architectural traditions, such as the careful separation of private life from public zones within a dwelling. The basic unit of the community is the cul-de-sac, with public vehicular access and private pedestrian access between units.
